National Symbols!

Today we:
~started out with Money Play... where we just played with money (we could sort it by size or color, we could trace around the coins, we could put the coin under our paper and do a 'rubbing', or we could do our own thing - some chose to just put their fingers in it and feel it, some drew money mazes, and some counted coins).
~we enjoyed centers.
~we practiced the Pledge during circle time.
~we also worked on our calendar and read a book about the Pledge.
~we then watched a great video (on YouTube - don't freak out - it was really good :) on National symbols. It was really important to me that they see real photos, not animated drawings, of the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, Mount Rushmore, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument.
~we made Washington Hats and glued national symbols on them in a pattern (well, can I really say that? Some went to town on the patterns, some made it their own - meaning no pattern but very much 'theirs'.
~ we then enjoyed a rousing game of Penny, Penny, Who's Got The Penny! (Super fun!)

It was a great day!
See you tomorrow!
